I firmly believe that more than 80% of success involves having the right mindset. The ‘Millionaire Mindset.’ One of my favourite tools I utilise daily to help keep my mindset in check and my motivation in place is a vision board.
What is a Vision Board
A vision board is a visual representation of what your ideal life would look like.
Within your vision board, you include pictures of what you want in your life, both materialistically and emotionally.
This can include:
- Activities you Enjoy
- Quotes or People that Inspire You
- Material Objects you want to own
- Places you want to Visit
To give you an idea what a completed vision board looks like, here is my own personal one.
As you can see I have incorporated some of my dreams and aspirations into my vision board, as well as more every day things such as healthy living, family and pets.
Seems extravagant I know, but I want you to think deeply about what you want to achieve in the long term.
Dream big, think about what your dream house would look like. (Believe it or not the house on my dream board is a real house on the market less than 20 miles from where I currently live- Yes I do my research when I am dream building!) and do just that! Go out and look for what is on the market. Choose your dream home!
You may not want a boat and a mansion, you may just want a little cottage in the middle of nowhere, and that’s fine too!
This is what is so exciting about a vision board, we are all different. No two vision boards will be the same. Yet many of us are on very similar paths.
How to Make A Vision Board
When I made my vision board, I took images from online, and pasted them into an MS Paint document set to A3 size.
I then sent my vision board to the printers, so that I had a physical copy of it to place in my office, where I could view it daily as I worked.
This has been extremely motivational for me, particularly on the days I am struggling, as it let’s me see exactly why I am working as hard as I am, in a visual representation of what I want my future life to be.
Now, vision boards do not have to be printed.
If you prefer you can buy a board, and stick images from magazines and books onto yours. You could do half and half, or an artistic version that is symbolic of what you like.
What I am trying to say, is that, it doesn’t have to take hours and you don’t have to have special equipment. Anyone can do this!
I have recorded a short video discussing some of topics you can immortalise within your vision board.
You can watch the video below or on YouTube by clicking HERE
I would love to see some of your vision boards when you have completed them, so once you are done, post them on the Facebook Page or if you can message me on Facebook if you’re not comfortable posting them on a public space.
The Science Behind The Vision Board
It is actually proven that you can ‘rewire’ your brain for success.
Part of this process involves visualisation and positive thinking.
Ok, a vision board on it’s own is not going to make your dreams come true overnight, but by partaking in this task, you are setting yourself a clear vision of what you’re looking to achieve.
This makes goal setting and planning, as well as motivation much easier!
Celebrities Who Utilise Vision Boards
Many celebrities and successful business people have been reported to use vision boards to help them in their journey’s to success.
Some of these include:
- Katy Perry
- Ellen DeGeneres
- Sara Blakely (Creator of Spanx)
- Jim Carrey
- Arnold Schwarzenegger
- Will Smith
And the list literally goes on and on!
Having your mindset right, is a major hurdle on the road to success.
Every little failure can feel like a knock back, but as my vision board says
“Failure is only the opportunity to begin again, only this time, more wisely.”
A vision board will bring you clarity, motivation, vision and determination, and all of these things are invaluable for an entrepreneur.
So what are you waiting for! Go now and get your scissors and glue, and make a start! I can’t wait to see them!
